Thurnham Heritage Award 2019.

Thurnham is believed to be unique amongParish Councils in having established an annual award to recognize acontribution to Kent’s heritage.  Theaward was initiated by Parish Councillor John Horne when he was the Heritage Championfor Maidstone Borough Council.

The award is in memory of Lord SandyBruce-Lockhart, the late much respected Leader of Kent County Council andChairman of English Heritage.

The award has been made from wood salvagedfrom Thurnham Castle surroundings when it was rescued from woodland invasion.

This year the Award was presented to the CPRE, in recognition of their work on the protection of rural areas in the local community.

Thurnham Parish Council is looking for applications for the 2019 award.  This can be heritage in its widest sense. Do you think you have designed anaward winning building, have you established a new wood or wild flower meadow?We are looking for a real contribution to the heritage of Kent.

The decision will be made by Thurnham ParishCouncil, English Heritage, Kent County Council and Maidstone Borough Council.

Closing date for applications 30th April2019.
